Is the quality of your water as desirable as you would like?  If not, Richardson Plumbing can solve this problem.

In most cases, we will need to take a sample of your water so a water analysis can be performed.  Once we get the test results of the water analysis, we will recommend the best way to correct the quality of your water.

There are basically two ways to correct a problem with your water. We may use a cartridge type water filter or a water conditioner. In some cases it may be desirable to use both.

The cartridge type units we sell are Keystone and the water conditioning units we sell are Filter Tech of Georgia.

Cartridge Type Water Filter

Cartridge type water filters are nominally used for removal of (all or some) Dirt/Rust & Sediment, Taste & Odor Removal, Chemical Removal and Lead/Cyst Reduction.

Water Conditioner

Water conditioners may remove or icon exchange Hardness, Iron, Manganese, Iron Bacteria, Copper, Nitrates, Tannins, Sulfides, and Sediment.  May also change Color, and Taste & Odor of water as well as raise/lower the PH of water.

Filter Media: Manganese Greensand Plus

Regenerant: Chlorine or Potassium Permanganate

The GS Plus Series is an automated backwashing system designed to reduce levels of iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide odor in applications where pH remains above 6.5. Manganese Greensand Plus filter media requires regular maintenance with potassium permanganate or chlorine. This system is much easier to backwash since far less water (GPM) is needed to expand and clean the bed. Manganese Greensand Plus is a far superior filter media in strength and performance than its predecessor , Manganese Greensand.

Filter Media: Greensand Plus, HSKPAC Media

Regenerant: Chlorine or Potassium Permanganate

The HSGS Series is identical to the GSPlus except that a layer of HSKPAC media is added to the top filter bed to greatly enhance the filter’s hydrogen sulfide capacity. The HSGS series will remove up to 25 ppm of sulfur whereas; the GSPlus system will remove only up to 5 ppm of the odor.

The HSKPAC media is unique because it does not require air injection, contact time or chemical injection like other hydrogen sulfide treatment systems. Additionally, the HSGS Series will remove iron and manganese while also requiring a chlorine pellet maintenance.

bulletpH Correction

Filter Media: Manganese Greensand Plus, Calcite and Corosex

Regenerant: Chlorine or Potassium Permanganate

An upflow neutralizer is added to applications where the pH is less than 6.5 or has a history of being less than 6.5.

The GSPlus-NC Series is an automated backwashing filter system divided into two parts: an upflow neutralizer and an iron filter. The system is designed to reduce levels of iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide odor while also neutralizing low pH. The Manganese Greensand Plus filter media does require regular maintenance with potassium permanganate, but chlorine tablets can be used instead with equal effectiveness. This system is much easier to backwash since far less water (GPM) is needed to expand and clean the bed. The new Manganese Greensand Plus is a far superior filter media in strength and performance than its predecessor, Manganese Greensand.

bulletpH Correction

Filter Media: Calcite, Corosex

The NC Series is an automated backwashing system designed to neutralize acidic water by elevating the pH level and adding alkalinity. Acidic (low pH) ground water is the most common cause of water leaks in copper, brass and other metal plumbing pipes. Water with a pH of 6.8 or lower (7.0 is neutral) will corrode copper plumbing from the inside-out creating tell-tale blue-green stains in toilets, tubs and sinks. The NC series requires periodic recharges of the calcite and corosex filtration media.

Filter Media: Catalox, KDF 85

The KLOX Series is an automated backwashing system designed to reduce levels of iron & manganese in applications where pH remains above neutral (>7.0). Regular maintenance is not required on this system.

Filter Media: Catalox, KDF 85, HSKPAC

The HSKLOX series is an automated backwashing filter for applications in which pH remains above neutral (>7.0) and where hydrogen sulfide odor and staining from iron & manganese are the predominant problems. The filter contains a layer of HSKPAC, a revolutionary media designed to remove sulfur odor without the use of air injection or chemicals such as chlorine or potassium permanganate.

Filter Media: Catalox, KDF 85, HSKPAC

In applications where the hardness level is significant (>6 GPM) and the pH is above 7.5, experience has shown that separating the HSKPAC media from the Catalox media works better than layering the media on top of the Catalox media. The KLOX-HS series is an automated backwashing filter divided into two parts: an up-flow tank containing the HSKPAC media for hydrogen sulfide odor and an iron filter. The upflow tank contains HSKPAC, a revolutionary media designed to remove sulfur odor without the use of air injection or chemicals such as chlorine or potassium permanganate.

Filter Media: Centaur® Carbon

The C Series is an automatic backwashing granular activated carbon filter system. Carbon is the universal filter media, it can be used in filter systems to reduce iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, VOC, as well as other taste and odor issues. There is no regular maintenance involved with the C Series, but the life span of the carbon media is much shorter when compared to other medias.
